And it’s happened again!

My fic “Bitter From the Sweet” was recently nominated at wicked_awards (the No Rest for the Wicked Awards). Now the same story has been nominated (by the same person, perhaps?) at Round 30 of the Sunnydale Memorial Fanfiction Awards.

I’m a little mystified that this story should receive such attention (especially more than a year later), but happy for the attention. Only, hey, folks, I do have other stories out there!

I was sure I left my congrats on this - but that must have been when my laptop went black on me and I had to shut it off. Or, I forgot to hit "post" - could be either one. :) Anyway, yay for getting another nom. Someone obviously really likes the story and that may well bring more readers and admirers. :)

With the years-ago fading away of the Halo Awards, SMFA is now the closest we have to the ‘big time’, so it never hurts my feelings to have my name listed there, even as a nominee. It’s just that, in this instance as with so many other nominations, I never can quite understand why a particular story was put up for recognition when I can think of others I feel are so much better suited.

It’s funny, rather than frustrating, but it remains a mystery.

People nominate stories that resonate with them for some reason and/or that they really enjoyed. Their choices may not be yours, but it's still nice to be recognized. :) One of the places I got a nom recently emphasized that they accept self-nominations, so if you have something you are particularly proud of, you could nominate there (might have been Wicked awards?) and perhaps bring it to readers' attention. :)
