Long weekend, following a long week. Susan returned to work as soon as I was back in town, even though she still wasn’t completely well; the lingering respiratory upset is being aggravated by continuing problems with fibromyalgia and sarcoidosis. Meanwhile, I worked on bringing our finances back into balance. At first I thought we’d finally caught up — finally I got the capacity to regulate her bank account online, as well as my own — and I moved funds and checked the bills and paid such debts as were immediately due. Somewhere along the line, though, I miscalculated something. When I went today to check the balances, I found that we were several hundred dollars overdrawn, all due to items I already knew about.

Not as bad as it might have been. Susan has overdraft protection on her account, so everything is covered, even though we’ll have to pay for the clearing of the excess items. We have to make it to the next paycheck on just the cash she had in her purse … but, again good news, that’s only another four days.

She saw her doctor today and got medication adjustment, and she’s scheduled for a CAT scan and a pulmonary function test in a week. Our daughter is due for a visit in early June. I’ll miss part of that because I’ll be doing a three-day paintball exercise with my unit. I need to mow our lawn — first time in a long time I’ve had to do that, or had a family lawn that needed mowing! — and there are other things to see to in the coming week.

I want to start writing again. I’ve been saying that for weeks (months, even), but now I need to actually begin.

We’ll see how that goes.
