Because I’m me
May. 5th, 2024 08:07 pmGoing back to a habit I had when I was driving a truck, I bought a multi-pocketed vest last year just before Susan and I made our visit to Spain and then China. It came in handy for keeping our visas handy, but I continued to use it after we got back.
Currently, the contents — the ones in place whenever I put it on — are:
- 1 set clip-on polarized sunshades
- 2 plastic toothpicks
- 1 plastic flossing pick
- 1 checkbook (with 2 pens)
- 2 more pens in a breast pocket
- 1 small spiral notepad
- 1 small booklet of operation notes for our RV
- 1 business card for our favorite RV tech
- 1 regular Rosary
- 1 plastic-and-string Rosary
- 2 sturdy drinking straws (one inside the other)
- 1 folding metal campware set (fork, spoon, table knife, corkscrew, can opener)
- 1 Chik-fil-A gift card
I also habitually tuck my phone into one pocket and my Kindle in another whenever I go out anywhere.
Any meaning there? None I particularly think of (though I’d say it does indicate something of a ‘just in case’ mindset). No, it’s just a part of what’s going on right now.
It would be funny, though, to see a story where some OCD weirdo (not me) used the items on that list to survive in the wilderness, or maybe perpetrate a small heist.
