New cover art
Jan. 3rd, 2025 11:20 amCover art for my newest story, “Digital Divide”:
Cover art for “the Uncanny Valley”, my submission to this year’s Summer of Giles.
It’s 3½ years now since I reached the point where I had cover art for every one of my stories. By early 2020, I had experimented enough with basic graphic programs that I could begin doing my own artwork; before then, however, I got it by begging. At my request, I was provided story banners by gillo (1 fic),
angelus2hot (1 fic),
red_satin_doll (1 fic),
comlodge (3 fics), and
blondebitz (4 fics).
Starting in 2015, however, I began getting artwork from my daughter sroni.
With my previous contributors, I was satisfied with what they gave me, and wouldn’t have dared to request corrections or revisions. (The only exception — and as minor as I could make it — was when red_satin_doll graciously replaced a capital letter with lower-case one so that By Aadler became by Aadler on “All Ye Who Enter”.) The stuff from
sroni, though … I was able to give her some idea regarding what I would like for a particular story, so that what she produced was sorta-semi of my own design even if I didn’t do the actual work, and then there would be various small adjustments till I was satisfied.
There was a lot of back-and-forth on the art for “… Than Meets the Eye”: different elements adjusted, shifted, and tweaked until the final result was what I was looking for. What I was looking for, however, I had known the basics of that from the beginning. That was just how it needed to BE.
It wasn’t until a number of years later that a random thought crossed my mind, and I realized that I might have got just a slight bit of inspiration from another source:
Im not chagrined; I actually laugh about it, that something like that could sneak in on me when I was positive it was all my own idea.
You just never know.
Cover art for the title page and story page of “Listen to the Mockingbird”, my submission to this year’s summer_of_giles.
Cover art now for “In the Misty Moonlight”, my submission to this year’s Summer of Giles.
Been away for a while. I’ll be looking to catch up on some of those events shortly. Just for now, though, I have cover art now for “Down the Ringing Grooves of Change”.
I have cover art now for “the Song Remains the Same”.
Additionally, I’ve posted endnotes for “That Thing You Do”.
I’ve been on this project for so long — seven years by now — that I genuinely didn’t notice when it reached its conclusion. With the previous post for “Long Time Passing”, however, I now have cover art posted for every single one of my fanfiction stories.
If you’re in the mood for some frivolous diversion, this link will give you a consolidated look at all the goodies I’ve been gifted (or, for the last few, created for myself) over the years.
Feels so weird to finally be done …
More cover art and endnotes, this time for “Long Time Passing”.
Meanwhile, I’ve also posted endnotes for “the Tyranny of Numbers”.
As with the previous two rounds, cover art is being provided for the stories of this year’s cof_remix participants.
Congratulations again to this year’s participants.
More cover art and endnotes, this time for “Into the Abyss”.
Meanwhile, I’ve also posted endnotes for “Jack Be Nimble”.
More cover art and endnotes, this time for “Reversible Error”.
More cover art and endnotes, this time for “Man in Motion”.
Now that the posting of “By the Rose-Wreath’d Gate” has broken my long absence from LJ, I’m ready to keep going.
As seen in some of the ‘prize’ banners done for participants at Circle of Friends (cof_remix, said banners seen here and here), I’ve learned a bit about putting together story banners myself, so I’m no longer totally dependent on
sroni for that. With this in mind, here’s the one for the abovementioned fic:
Additionally, I’ve done another for an older story for which I just posted new endnotes:
View. Rejoice.
Back during this year’s Fandom Snowflake event, I expressed a wish that someone might provide cover art for my OtherFandom (i.e., non-Buffy) stories, since sroni had been doing most of my BtVS cover art. Naturally, Roni jumped in to fill the gap, with results seen below.
It’s nice to have a dutiful daughter. Even better if a bit of talent is included.
Even though the story was posted less than two weeks ago, sroni has supplied cover art for “Beneath the Bitter Snows”. As usual, much appreciated.
