On All My Motions

Some years back, when I first started including images in some of my posts — which process accelerated hugely once I began the process of getting cover art for all my fics — I used Photobucket. It was available, it was popular, it was free, it worked. Yay, Photobucket.

Then Photobucket transitioned to a paid service, and suddenly you couldn’t get your images displayed unless you paid the company. I declined to do so, and after some research I switched over to Imgur. By that time I had enough artwork embedded in my posts that it took some time to go back in and change the links, but I got it done. Then I added more and more to Imgur, because I was using more and more art.

Now, suddenly, Imgur has updated its terms of service … and, since my primary use of the site was as a storehouse for imagery that I linked to elsewhere, and such ‘hotlinking’ is out-of-nowhere a huge no-no, all my collected images have been blocked. As in, I can’t even go into Imgur itself to see them.

Which means I’m going to have to find another service, get all my imagery to that one, then go through every single post I’ve ever done on this site to find and update any image links. Again. Which, with other things going on right now, will probably take weeks.

Yeah, I know, first world problems. It’s still irritating.
