Seventh day in Spain – July 05 Wednesday

Up 7:30AM, downstairs for breakfast. Susan wasn’t feeling well, asked me to bring something back up for her, which I did.

After I’d packed for Susan, she sent an inquiry to Kevin, and he let us know we were supposed to meet the others in the lobby by 10:45. We did so within the designated timeframe; from the hotel, we went about a block and a half up the street to where the bus could pick us up. We were on the bus and moving by 11:15AM.

At 1:45PM we stopped for lunch, had the usual series of dishes at Restaurante Patrona in Lorca (Murcia Province). Back on the bus about 3:15 and traveling again. We came into sight of the sea (Mediterranean) shortly after 5:00, arrived at Hotel Cap Negret about 5:35. The hotel is in Altea, a more-or-less suburb of the Valencian community, and is right on the beach.

Susan took a shower and lay down to sleep for a bit while I worked on getting some things into order. Shortly after 8:00PM I got inquiries from Mei-li regarding our joining them for dinner buffet downstairs. I woke Susan, she got dressed, and I wheeled her to the elevator so we could go down to the dining floor. We ate with Kevin, Mei-li, and Amber, and afterward I took her out onto the large terrace/viewing deck so she could look at the Mediterranean and take some photos.

Upstairs again, and she again went to bed. (In fairness, it was around 10:00PM by this time, but the late sunset makes that hard to feel on a fundamental basis.) I’d been waiting 1) for other payments to come in, and 2) for a good solid internet connection; having both now, I made reservations to bring us back home from Hong Kong — following our coming visit to China, we’ll accompany my son’s family to Shenzhen so we can be present for Amber’s birthday — and then took a check Susan had written from the account to which her VA pension arrives, and did an online deposit of that to the main account we use for most of our transactions.

This has turned into an expensive trip. But, fortunately, except for rent in Shenzhen, all the major costs have now been covered already.

I stayed up reading for some time, got to bed LATE.
