Last week, in the now-majority-Muslim city of Hamtramck, Michigan, the all-Muslim city council voted unanimously to ban LGBTQ+ flags from city property. At least some of them explicitly said it was because ‘Pride’ flags conflicted with their beliefs.

Anybody who’s read me at any length knows that I’m no fan of Islam. On this one, though … well, not only do I think their actions are perfectly reasonable, I can’t understand why anybody would be surprised by such a decision. Hasn’t it been made abundantly clear that Islam is much more opposed to homosexuality than practically all squishy western Protestant religions, never mind western secular culture? Did anyone actually expect them to embrace the active teaching and open demonstration of such behaviors?

Quote from the New York Post article:

One opponent angrily told the council that she “relocated from California to Hamtramck” because she “thought it was a diverse community.”
Did it never occur to this dimwit that ‘diverse’ might mean that not everybody has the same opinions? that there might be occasional disagreements?

Was it really a huge shock that a Muslim community might not embrace “all gay, all the time”?
