On 6-19-2023, The Advocate, a ‘gay/trans publication’, posted the following tweet:

As the nation celebrates Juneteenth today, let’s not forget that Queer and Trans folx are still living in bondage to a society that refuses to let them be free.

The combined insensitivity and self-delusion are stunning. The implicit comparison of homosexuality/transgenderism to literal slavery … well, let’s recognize that basically anybody else on Earth would be all but literally lynched for saying something like that, but the poster apparently believes he/they are entitled to feel self-righteous about it.

More than anything else, though, is the grandiosity. They’re in bondage? (Heck, I thought they were into stuff like that.) Society refuses to let them be free?

How much more freedom do they need? How many more rights than everybody else are they supposed to be granted? WHAT THE FUCK MORE DO THEY EXPECT TO GET?

And — increasingly — why should anybody give a shit what they want?
