In many U.S. jurisdictions, it’s decreed by law that anyone who identifies as being of a certain gender, thereby IS that gender, regardless of physical reality.

“When you write nonsense into law, you don’t turn nonsense into fact; you just turn the law into nonsense.”

Yes, that’s a quote.

Who said it? Why, I did. And it stays true regardless of just how much nonsense the law devotes itself to perpetrating.

You can make a law decreeing that all cats are now dogs. You can require that cats be admitted to the Westminster Dog Show. You can prosecute people for hate speech if they point out that a cat isn’t a dog.

But no law will ever enable a cat to bark.
