What the HELL?

Yesterday evening, I half-noticed that my shoes felt tight on my feet. Didn’t pay much attention, because it wasn’t that big a deal, but I do remember that.
This afternoon, after most of a day engaged in other pursuits, I happened to look at my feet … and they were so puffy with edema that it stunned me. What? WHAT? What’s that about?
Seriously, whatever happened, it happened after I finished my weight-loss regimen at Fort McCoy, after I got back home and had been home for two days, after I finished the regimen of antibiotics prescribed in the aftermath of the kidney-stones incident. In other words, I have no idea what’s causing this.
For my entire adult life, my health care strategy could be summed up in three words: don’t get sick. And that’s worked perfectly for me. Ironically — since I was puny and sickly as a kid — I’ve been the healthiest person in my family for over twenty years now.
If this hasn’t gone away by tomorrow, I’ll have to try and see a doctor about it. (I was supposed to consult with one anyhow, as a follow-up on the urinary tract infection.) All told, though, I suppose the events of the past two weeks have served notice on me that I can’t take things for granted anymore.
