I am not happy. I am seriously, seriously not happy.

I’m almost done with my duty at Fort Indiantown Gap. There are four testing phases, I’ve done and passed three of them (easily), and I have the fourth ready for presentation tomorrow. I’m supposed to be home Monday.

Unfortunately, nobody knows where my wife is.

I got a call from my son this morning. She’d gotten off work yesterday morning, called to tell him that she was going to sleep for awhile (she’d just finished a night-to-morning shift) before trying to make the drive to mid-state to spend time with him and her parents.

She didn’t make the drive. No big, it made sense that she might have slept a bit late, decided that the weather — there were tornado warnings — made a drive inadvisable at that time. We don’t know for sure, though, and we can’t contact her because her phone service has been suspended because she didn’t pay the bill on time.

I called my brother; he’s staying with his daughter right now, and she lives on the same street as Susan and me. He checked our house, told me her vehicle wasn’t in the driveway. I called our son back, told him that news, and advised him not to worry, she was probably en route as we spoke.

He called me back four hours later. Still hasn’t seen her, heard from her … his phone is on the same contract as hers, so he’s having to borrow one from a friend, meaning that even if she DID try to call him, she wouldn’t know what number to try.

I’ve been waiting for some further information from him. Not much point in him calling to tell me he hasn’t heard anything. But no call means he hasn’t heard anything. She already finished work for the week, so nobody there would know anything. All the people she knows are in the same town where our son is going to college. If she’s not at home, the only places she would go are the places she was scheduled to go: to see our son, to visit her parents. Neither he nor I know anywhere else to check.

He asked me if it was okay to be really irritated with her, as well as worried.

Right now, I’m having trouble doing anything but worry.

I'll be praying for her safety, and that you or your son would hear from her or be able to get in touch with her soon!

Yikes! I hope she's okay.

Is there any way you can pay the bill over the phone so you might have a way of contacting her? Or tell the cell company that no one's seen or heard from her in two days and it might be an emergency?

Oh no! That's just... yikes! Hopefully, it will just turn out that she got started really late or got sidetracked by something along the way.

I realized this morning that my phone was shut off, and tried to get ahold of people but their phones have been shut off, too.

Has anyone checked with Highway Patrol yet? Checked for accidents or anything like that? Not to be the paranoid one, or anything like that, I just want to see if bases have been covered. I know that she would have found some way to check in with someone if A) She could, and B) It occured to her that we'd be worrying.

Let me know when we hear word from her. I'll be praying, and I'll ask other people to pray for her, too.

Sorry, can't help the worry. I've asked everyone I could reach online (since I DON'T HAVE A WORKING PHONE RIGHT NOW) to pray.

I am worried. But I know that I can't help anything by worrying.

I don't like this, Daddy.

All the technology at our disposal and we can still be put out of touch again so easily. When she shows up safe and sound hug her before you yell at her. I bet she never forgets to pay the bill again after worrying all of you so much.
