Something different in reality/game shows

Even before (and in preparation for) Susan’s and my transition to RV living, I watched a lot of Youtube videos about advice and reports on the lifestyle. I quickly discovered that a number of these people, almost always RV couples, have their own channels, put out series of videos, and have — within this niche — become online personalities.
And now there’s at least one game show for them.
RV Unplugged — the link is to one of the trailers — is being supervised and produced by the National RV Training Academy, which runs continuous classes teaching both RV technicians and RV owners who want to learn how to do basic maintenance and repair on their own vehicles. (There’s quite a bit of overlap in those two categories.) Nine of these RV couples have been divided up into two teams, which compete in various events set in, and built around, living unplugged: that is to say, not connected to water or electricity, what people in the lifestyle call “boondocking”. (Susan and I haven’t done any of that so far, all our camping up till now has been in one RV park or another.)
The team coaches are Phil and Stacy, of Today Is Someday. Phil is in charge of the blue team, Stacy of the red team.
Blue Team:
Dave & Tonya – Turn It Up, World
Ryan & Lauren – Millers in Motion (Lauren is actually absent on this one, I think at a previously scheduled equestrian event, so Ryan is representing on his own)
Howard & Katelyn – Newstate Nomads
Mike & Susan – RVBlogger
Red Team:
Chris & Martha – Venturesome Couple
Aaron & Christine – Irene Iron Travels
Chris & Katrina – Our Everyday Getaway
Ben & Charity – Grateful Glamper
The show itself proceeds along the same basic lines as “Survivor”, with the teams competing for either benefits or immunity, and the losing team voting off selected members. Losers are sent to ‘Black Tank Island’, where they may get a chance to return to play at some unspecified future point. It’s also unclear whether there will come a time when the two teams combine and the couples begin to compete directly against each other … but since there’s a single prize, that’s probably how it will proceed.
Completed episodes are being released one per week, I believe on Saturday evening. These are currently out:
Episode 1: Arrival
Episode 2: Zipline for Cash
Episode 3: Elimination by Fire
Episode 4: Diving for Dollars
Episode 5: Solar Elimination
You can look here for further episodes, if you’re enjoying those released so far.
