My daughter ([livejournal.com profile] sroni) tells me she’s already finished her assignment for [livejournal.com profile] remixredux08. Thanks, Roni, I really needed to feel like an underachiever. I have an idea where I’ll be going with mine — I’ve even picked a title, though I’m still trying to come up with the funky remix subtitle — but actually getting the story done, well, not so great on that. I took a try at starting the other night before I went to bed, even got about 200 words in, and then foundered. I’ll push through, I always do, but at the moment I’m getting nowhere.

With the circumstances being as they are, I decided to make an experiment of this one. Ever since Kuwait in ’03, I’ve done all my composing in longhand, being sure to finish a story before I transcribe it into digital storage. That works well and really suits me, but I’ve kept thinking that I could substantially speed up the output if I could become comfortable with keyboard composition. With this particular story, I have a fairly solid idea where I’ll be going and how I’ll get there, so I’m trying to do it entirely without pencil/paper. Keyboard only.

Harder than it sounds, at least for me. Maybe I’ll get farther over the weekend.

I've discovered that ever since I got my own computer, I've been writing a lot faster. Maybe not posting as much, since most of what I've been working on is original stories, but the ammount of writing has more than doubled.

Although that might also be due to the fact that I decided about a year ago to buckle down and write more. I have all that stuff in my head, and it wasn't getting out fast enough to suit me.

ANd I did go a month without a computer, and wouldn't you know that that would be the month of Nanowrimo, where I did the most writing, with no computer...

Maybe the two aren't related at all.

Good luck! And I can't wait to read your remix.

Oh, and just so you know, but I've posted the revamped version of Enemies. And I'll post my version of your story soon, I just needed to take a brain break from it, and wound up finishing Enemies.
