Quite an interesting take on the story. I've never done a remix like this where you take elements from the original and do something completely different with them. I'll have to consider that for next time. Dawn was quite nicely grown up here, hard around the edges, obviously much more has happened to her than we know from this story but the mileage shows. Makes me think he intervening two years would be quite a story itself.
I agree that Xander is just this stubborn and I love the Kyle not Arnie line. Quite wonderful.
Ranging afield from the original idea is more the rule for me than the exception; what’s unusual is when I stay close to the original story. In fact, I’ve wondered more than once (posted several of these wonderings) if the way I do remixes is actually what is normally meant by ‘remix’. It seems to work for me, though, and definitely entertains me, so I’ll probably keep at it for a while.
As for what Dawn was up to during those unspecified years? No doubt it would be interesting to us, but thoroughly routine for the Scoobies.
