Fifth day in China [October 5]
Susan must have stayed up well after I went to bed last night, because I got up just before 6:00 and it was past 8:30 before she awoke. (She told me afterward that she’d deliberately taken extra medication because she hadn’t been getting enough sleep before now.)
Kevin and Logan arrived to pick us up in the general neighborhood of 9:45, and took us back to the Yins’ apartment. Nothing really to report, after the details of the past few days; we simply stayed there for most of the day, ate two meals, visited and played with Amber. Susan took a nap in the afternoon, I took a shot at doing some fanfic composition (feeling my way through, I’m still not positive how I’m going to reconcile the sense of something missing in the story but I’m getting good narrative in the meantime), and we were returned to ‘our’ apartment by about 8:00 PM.
(A day or two before we came here, I text-inquired of Kevin regarding the weather here, and as to whether we needed to bring coats. He assured us that coats would not be necessary, and I packed accordingly. He was correct, and I was well-served in following his recommendation: except for yesterday’s excursion to Mass, I’ve worn cargo shorts ever since I arrived, and glad to have them.)
It didn’t take long to reach bedtime; with things planned for a fairly early start tomorrow, Susan and I went on to bed at 10:00 PM.
