Fifteen for Fifteen – Fic Highlights
Jun. 22nd, 2014 08:09 pmSo,
The Recap:
1999
“Point of Focus” – (Season 3; mostly Joyce)
Summary: A different Slayer, how that came about, how it turned out.
Why this one? First Buffyfic I ever did, and still holds up.
2000
“All Ye Who Enter” – (Season 2; Joyce, Angelus)
Summary: A quiet evening at home, till Angelus has other ideas.
Why this one? One of the best I did in this year, and I already profiled the other elsewhere.
2001
“In Ev’ry Angle Greet” – (Alt-Season 5; ensemble)
Summary: AU with lots of alternative pairings.
Why this one? Only my second AU, and more ambitious than the first; up to then, the longest and most involved Buffyfic I’d ever done.
2002
“Objects in the Mirror” – (Season 5; Anya, Dawn, Amy Madison, two one-shot characters)
Summary: Five separate views of things going on in the background.
Why this one? One of only two fics from this year, and it never got a lot of attention.
2003
“Seeking the Woman” – (post-Season 3; Faith, Michael Samuelle)
Summary: AU with Faith in La Femme Nikita’s Section One, and ready to leave.
Why this one? Part of a busy fic year, but among my favorites.
2004
“Ex Post Facto” – (Season 4 [Buffy], Season 1 [Angel]; Wesley)
Summary: Letter from Wesley to (in prison) Faith.
Why this one? Only non-drabble fic from 2004.
2005
“Beg to Differ” – (Not-quite-Season-6; semi-OCs)
Summary: A vampire, a Watcher, a hero, a reluctant heroine … but who is what?
Why this one? It got a lot of notice in its first appearance, but not much since.
2006
“Quatrain” – (Seasons 1, 6, 7; Buffy)
Summary: The four resurrections of Buffy Summers.
Why this one? I didn’t do that many drabbles (and this is four linked drabbles), but I felt best about what I accomplished here.
2007
“An’ Foolish Notion” – (Post-Season 7; BtVs/A:tS ensemble)
Summary: Costume party at the Hyperion with both crews, only Buffy smells trouble.
Why this one? It was just fun, is all.
2008
“Jasmine Tears” – (post-series; Faith, Lorne)
Summary: Faith goes to Lorne to get answers about Cordelia.
Why this one? Best one from 2008.
2009
“Queen’s Gambit” – (Alt-Season 2; most of the Buffy gang)
Summary: Cordelia as Slayer, trying to deal with her demon ex-lover (Angelus) and the aftermath of a plan gone wrong.
Why this one? My longest and most involved fanfic to date, plus lots and lots of Cordelia.
2010
“Otherwise a Perfect Sky” – (Post-Season 5; mostly Xander and Tara, but others as well)
Summary: A post-apocalyptic scenario spun off a different ending to “the Gift”, and unwilling leaders doing the best they can.
Why this one? Best fanfic I’ve ever done. Period.
2011
“Best Foot Forward” – (Post-series; Buffy, Xander, OC)
Summary: A guest Watcher tries to find her own place in a fairly exclusive dynamic.
Why this one? I really like seeing the Scoobies from an external POV.
2012
“As Moonlight Unto Sunlight” – (Seasons 1, 2, 3 [Buffy], Season 2 [Angel]; Angel [sort of] and the Scoobies)
Summary: Angel interacts with the others in Buffy’s first three seasons, only with a bit of a twist.
Why this one? I just enjoyed it, and still do.
2013
“Subject to Change” – (Season 1 [Angel]; Xander and the A:tS crew)
Summary: A different Xander works out his issues in L.A. with Angel Investigations.
Why this one? Plenty of fun stuff in here. No more complicated than that.
2014
“Maxima Culpa” – (Season 7; Buffy, three OCs)
Summary: One of the people Buffy rescues has to deal with the aftermath and the implications.
Why this one? It wasn’t that hard to write, but it got response out of proportion to what I expected. Nice.
