10:00PM Central Afghan Time

Composition continues on “Beg to Differ”; another thousand words (I’m past 4,000 now), and I have to stay up late to take a couple of our guys to the terminal to start their leave, so I’ll probably break 5,000 before I get to bed.

That’s it. I’m not very interesting when I’m actually writing, it’s all word counts.

Personally, I find it fascinating that you can write so much in such a short time. Keep the word counts coming!

I really don’t think the stuff I did yesterday was as good as what I turned out the first two days. But I’m following a tactic that I had already been using unconsciously, and refined after seeing it explicitly stated in NaNoWriMo: go for bulk, and finish the thing, and then go back and make it good. Seems to work.

Hmm. Maybe I should try that. I'm constantly writing then rewriting, and almost always, *nothing* gets finished. An excellent idea.

As for NaNoWriMo, I know what it stands for, but was/is there a site or something? I thought it was just this collective idea.

The site is http://www.nanowrimo.org/. I’d start here, however; that’s where you can find the concept explained and read the participation rules. I didn’t find out about NaNoWriMo until about halfway through November, but I really hope to jump on next year. (Maybe I’ll pick a month of my own, chart my progress, and report those results this next November.) Writing 2,000 words a day is no major problem for me, but it’ll be an experience to try and maintain it for 25 days out of a 30-day period.

Thanks for the info. I think your idea of starting in a different month and charting your progress is excellent. I've had this idea floating around in my head for quite a while; this is my excuse to bring it to fruition.
