Recently I took Susan out to dinner. After the meal, she pulled out a steno pad, and wrote thank-you notes to the young man who seated us and to the young woman who served us. That’s the kind of person she is.

And I pulled out my pocket scissors and trimmed the edges of the pages, from where she tore them out of the pad. Because that’s the kind of person I am.

Getting that sort of thanks from an unexpected quarter is amazing. It's great that y'all do that.

Not me. All her. I could stand to be nicer … but I don’t really have to, because I have her to serve as literally my better half.
