Duty posting

 
Okay, so I’m at Fort Indiantown Gap in Pennsylvania. I’ve done little since arriving besides study and sleep. (I was, however, able to get online Saturday long enough to change my sockpuppet name at remixredux08, and to post my remix in my own LJ.)

My son has final exams today. He’s been struggling, and I hope he can hold things together. He’s had a lot of responsibilities loaded onto him, and carried most of them, but everybody has limits.

I did a presentation today, very successful. I’m supposed to do another, day after tomorrow. There was a snag about processing me in when I first arrived; that was all settled this afternoon, and now there’s the matter of working out when I’m supposed to leave. (Most of the people in my class are scheduled to take two concatenated classes. If I’m scheduled only for the first one, I’m here four days too long. If I’m supposed to be in both — as the others are — then I need to stay two days longer than my itinerary shows. Either way, something has to be clarified.)

I had a minor sinus infection when I got here. It’s trying to crawl out and become more, and I’m fighting it with massive infusions of orange juice.

At the beginning of this year, I expressed my intention of writing twelve fics, an average of one a month. I’m almost at the end of Month Four, and I’ve finished and posted … one story. Not a good beginning. Maybe I can improve on that (and I brought along materials to work with, if I get the time), but right now I’ve got just a bit too much … you know, official stuff … demanding my attention.

I’m tired.
