(no subject)
Oct. 29th, 2006 05:38 pmToday my son and ex-wife were welcomed as candidates into the Catholic church in their parish. They’re not fully Catholic yet; both they and the church take that seriously, there’s a course of study that will culminate at Easter. They’ve made a formal decision, though. This is something they’re going to do unless specific events actively prevent it.
They were to wait in the chapel before the morning mass; I did my confession, then joined them there. I sat next to Susan; behind us, our son did a Rosary with a set of beads I had made him. (And, on seeing them, he used the techniques he could see to make a set for his sister, to go into the package that hasn’t yet been mailed to her.)
Strange. This may be the most important thing I’ve ever done — ‘leading’ them into the Catholic Church — and it wasn’t even me who did it. It just spun off a small action of mine, and I managed to avoid messing it up.
Open Cut — Minor personal matter
Susan will start another week of night-to-morning shifts just before midnight, and tomorrow I’ll drive back upstate to take care of various things before next weekend’s drill. Not immediately, however. First there’s a small piece of business to carry out.
A few months ago, when things were tight for her, I authorized the withdrawal of money for her car payment from my bank account. Just the one time, and that’s the way it remained. Well, a balloon payment came due last week … and $1,454 was withdrawn from my account to cover it, without my authorization. This was a shock to me, but not a problem; I let her know about it when I arrived yesterday afternoon, and we’ll go by her bank tomorrow morning to get reparations made. Her vehicle will be paid off next month, so there won’t be occasion for recurrence of the incident. I’m just not happy that it could ever be done at all.
Close Cut
Tonight, I catch up on various TV programs recorded throughout the week. (And, maybe, do a little more on “God Save the Queen”.) Tomorrow, back into my regular routine, which will specifically include further fanfic work.
