Still languishing at Fort Dix

I wore a portable heart monitor for a day, so the cardiologist will have a larger measurement by which to make an assessment. I have occasional medical and administrative appointments, but mostly I just lie around in barracks.

My son is in China (with an ear and sinus infection). My daughter is feeling poorly enough that she has agreed to come back home for awhile so we can get her checked over more comprehensively. My wife — who really wishes I was home right now — has what sounds like a dose of flu, and is just miserable. And I, on official medical hold, feel better than any of them. Life can be a comedy, but not always a lighthearted one.

At this point, I’m close to 12,000 words into my current Buffyfic. I might finish in one more really good day of composition, or it might stretch out over another week. I am, however, confident that I’ll have it finished before I leave here.

Life goes on, and there’s not much more to it than that.

It will be very good when you are declared well. I hope everyone else in your family recovers speedily.

Though I didn’t specifically say so in later posts, I eventually got a finding of ‘no finding’ from the cardiologist and other testers. They detected no evidence of problem or dysfunction, so I guess I’ll just have to reluctantly consider myself healthy. And everyone else is over their most immediate ailments, so (for the moment) we’re all basically good.

It all worked out okay in the end. And, hey, I was getting paid throughout the hassle.
