Susan and I started off at noon today, after a LONG time in the same spot.

Well, not exactly.

By ‘same spot’ I actually mean the same RV park, but in the form of two different stays in two different slots. We did take off a couple of months last year to visit our kids in Ireland and China. So we didn’t actually stay put that whole time, we just didn’t do any RV travel between the middle of March 2025 and the beginning of March 2026. (We needed to hang around because different surgeries — two for me, one for Susan — required subsequent checkups.)

With that (mostly) behind us, we’re in Missouri now. We’ll visit with a friend of Susan’s, make a day-trip by car back ‘home’ for another medical follow-up, then plan to drop in on one of my stepsisters in a different part of the state. Probably Kansas after that.

On the other hand, our usual RV travel is during the winter months, meaning we head for warmer areas; starting off just as winter is ending, we may make another trip to Minnesota to call on my oldest ‘sister’, and Susan talks about seeing Michigan’s upper peninsula again; plus, she’s mentioned things in North and South Carolina she’d like to check out.

We’ll see. We have the time.

Hi there. Travelling in an RV does sound like the ideal way to see the country. I've been across the USA by road, from San Francisco to Miami, but my trip was mostly done by greyhound bus!
Where in Ireland and China are your kids?

I have another friend on LJ who lived in Shenzhen for a few years. On the one hand it's cool to get to visit family in far away places, but after a few years in South Korea I'm also becoming aware of how difficult and expensive it can be to be so far away! I finished work last Friday and will head back home to the UK for a month and half next week,

That's a lot of driving! But of course, that's the whole point in living in the RV. Do you have things in storage somewhere, or did you massively downsize to JUST the RV?
