Fifty-seventh day in China – August 16 Saturday

Casual morning, Kevin showed up a bit before noon and took us out to lunch at a Japanese place down the block. He visited with us at our apartment afterward before returning to his own issues. (He’s still taking the antibiotics, and wore a face mask in public, but shows no sign of debilitation from the being-treated pneumonia.)

Joy showed up around 2:00PM to take Susan shopping for teas to take home with us; I lay down to nap while they were gone doing that, got up again once they returned.

Susan and I did our normal-whatever through the remainder of the afternoon, left at 6:00PM to go to the Yins’ for dinner. It’s confirmed now that the nanny has completed her tenure with Mei‑li; we had dinner with Mei‑li and Amber and the parents, and got to look in on the baby while she was being taken care of by Mei‑li or her (other) grandmother, and Susan gave Laura a set of coasters she’d crocheted at the lady’s request.

Back at the apartment, Kevin texted that he’d be coming to see us, and did so around (or maybe a bit before) 9:00PM. He stayed around talking about different things till roughly 11:45 before leaving for home.

And that was it for us for the day. Tomorrow will be our last full day in mainland China.
