Fifty-fourth day in China – August 13 Wednesday

Up 9:35AM, Susan already moving around. As usual, I did noodles for my own breakfast, she made hers on snack cookies. Swinging cosmopolitans, we are.

Our lunch was something I got from Baker & Spice. Susan texted Mei‑li to ask if we needed to skip family dinner — in case we’d been exposed to Kevin’s pneumonia — but she said it was okay, they liked having us over.

Susan and I did our daily Rosary together, and at 6:00PM we started off for our evening dinner visit.

At the Yins’ for dinner, Mei‑li told her she’d heard from her brother that we gave Joy ¥5,000 for her services over the last couple of months, and was concerned that it might be too much. Susan assured her that we’d settled on that amount after some consideration.

As we were ready to leave, Susan had me shoot a text to Kevin asking if we might be able to meet outside his own building once he got in from work. Neither one of us considered until afterward that, the moment we left the Yins’ apartment, we were out of internet contact till we reached another area where we had wifi access. We waited out front, knowing this, till 8:15PM before continuing the rest of the way ‘home’. As soon as we arrived, we had a text from him that he was just leaving work … which would have been just about the time we got out the door of the Yins’, meaning we may have missed him by less than five minutes. I texted back that we’d returned, and he called by WeChat to talk with Susan for around ten minutes.

Susan went to bed around 11:00, maybe a bit before. I read for a while longer before I was ready to prepare for bed myself.
