Fifty-second day in China – August 11 Monday

It was about 9:15AM when I got up … by which point, Susan had both already been up and already lain back down to doze for a bit longer. I made a quick breakfast, she apparently had done so with the fruit we’d brought back as the leftovers from last night’s dinner.

Because of this, I ate my breakfast substantially later than she did, so that she was hungry again shortly after she got up, while I was still full from my earlier meal. I got Susan lunch from McDonald’s (the maid was doing her twice-weekly job when I got back), waited a couple of hours, got lunch for myself around 1:30PM.

We left for the Yins’ just after 6:00, settled in to wait for dinner to be served. Mei‑li was there, and her parents (of course, it being their house), and Amber and Ruby and the nanny. Mei‑li didn’t eat when we did, coming out after we finished. Susan and I visited and talked with Amber, watched Ruby while she was asleep, waited for Kevin to come in from work.

It was nearly 8:30PM before he arrived, and we waited while he had his own deferred meal. Amber put on a movie — continuation of one she’d started the last time we were there, actually — and we occupied ourselves thus. Started off for our apartment about 9:00, with Kevin coming along, and he hung around talking for a while. On his departure, I went downstairs with him, and he accompanied me to 7‑Eleven where I got some snacks and drinks for Susan.

Upstairs again, I said our daily Rosary with Susan, and read while she watched a DVD movie. By midnight we were ready to shut things down and get set for bed.
