Ireland/China 2025, continuing (58)
Aug. 7th, 2025 11:45 pmForty-eighth day in China – August 7 Thursday
I was surprised to find myself up by 7:30AM, and read for a bit before Susan likewise got up. I did noodles for breakfast, she had some small snacks to hold herself over.
About 11:30 I went down to get our lunch from McDonald’s. (No problem with gusting rain this time.) Then, in the middle afternoon, I got a new supply of snacks from 7‑Eleven. And, somewhat after that, the maid came in for the second of our twice-weekly cleanings.
With the way things were going — and the fact that we’d eschewed going to the Yins’ for dinner the last several days — I left the normal schedule in place (i.e., Logan would expect us unless we explicitly said we weren’t coming). Even so, by time for us to be starting off, Susan said her back pain made her unwilling to make the trip … so I went on my own, and — by phone translation — told them she’d asked me to bring something back for her. That was done easily enough.
Amber was on hand, and we talked a bit here and there while I waited for Kevin to get in from work. (Mainly, she watched My Little Pony.) I texted Kevin to ask when he was likely to be arriving; he sent back that he’d just finished a meeting, and I should go ahead and take Susan’s meal to her. I did so.
She liked the meal, and we settled in to finish out the evening, including our daily Rosary. By 11:45PM, I’d caught up on everything I needed to get out of the way before being ready to prepare for bed.
