Thirty-fourth day in China – July 24 Thursday

Today I made it up before 8:00AM. Susan got up when she heard me putting together the necessities for breakfast.

Routine activities, lunch when the time came. The initial weather report indicated no rain today; when it started thundering outside, I suspected that might undergo modification soon. Sure enough, the forecast changed, still predicting no rain in the evening, but we had seen that wasn’t necessarily reliable.

As a result, I made sure to take a big umbrella with me when we went over to the Yins’, though there was no need for it during the trip there. Just us and our co-grandparents for dinner, though Amber came to join us after the meal was done.

Somewhere around 8:00PM, I saw a message Mei‑li had sent us just after 5:00, asking if we wanted to come by to see Ruby. (I know I’d checked messages before we left the apartment, so I can’t say why it didn’t show up earlier.) When I answered her to see if it was still possible to go there, she said the baby had been put to bed, so we’re looking at tomorrow.

Kevin got in after work, but by this point it was near 9:00PM, and the last forecast I’d seen indicated possibility of rain around 10:00, and I didn’t want to take any chances. We headed back to our own apartment, Kevin accompanying us till we reached the building itself.

Upstairs, Susan and I settled in for the night. I did another 500+ words on Amber’s birthday fic, and Susan and I said our daily Rosary. Those things done, we were clear to get ready for bed.
