Ireland/China 2025, continuing (40)
Jul. 20th, 2025 11:23 pmThirtieth day in China – July 20 Sunday
I slept in till just after 11:00AM. Wasn’t feeling great: some sinus something, I didn’t feel terrible but it had just been nice to stay in bed longer, and Susan didn’t bother me, and I hadn’t realized how late it had got to be.
Up and prepared breakfast for Susan and myself. Shortly after noon, Kevin sent us word that church had been canceled today because of the typhoon rains.
A bit after that, there was a knock on the door; we thought it might be Kevin (though he usually knocks differently). Instead it was a guy delivering the drinks from yesterday’s foodstuffs order; the rest of it had arrived so quickly that Joy and I saw the delivery driver heading upstairs while we were waiting for our cab to the bank.
Our lunch was from some of that same material delivered yesterday, and Susan and I did our Rosary after that.
In the evening I turned out an updated draft of my
summer_of_giles story. Probably won’t post it till tomorrow — and might do a bit more editing and revision before then — but it was essentially ready to go.
Around 7:30 or 7:40PM, Susan had Kevin call in a McDonald’s order for us, so I wouldn’t have to try and navigate a section of the menu that I couldn’t translate and with which I wasn’t familiar. He did so, and we had a couple of McNuggets meals delivered for our supper.
Relaxation and recreation, the same reading and video-viewing that constitutes the majority of our at-home activities. (I did do some more editing and revising of my most recent fic, adding probably a couple of hundred words and tightening the rest.) End-of-day preparations complete, so that there was no obstacle to Susan and me being in bed before midnight.
