Twenty-eithth day in China – July 18 Friday

I got up just before 8:30AM, Susan (of course) already up. I went downstairs to the Burger King farther up on the corner: McDonald’s seemed to always be busy, and they always had to go into the back to make change for a cash payment. Unfortunately, the Burger King seemed to be in process of remodeling, possibly into a completely different business, so I wound up at McDonald’s anyway, and that was the breakfast I took back up for Susan and myself.

In the latter part of the morning, the maid came by to do the second of our twicc-weekly cleanings.

There was substantial thunder, and some rain, and when Susan texted Mei‑li she was told there was another typhoon approaching Shenzhen. (Apparently it’s the season.) My own consultation of the weather report made it appear that any likely rain would come on either side of when we’d be traveling to the Yins’ for dinner, but Susan announced we’d be canceling that schedule.

I got Susan something to eat from 7‑Eleven, and made my own lunch from the leftover cooler I’d got yesterday. In the early afternoon I made a trip to the grocery store; the threatened rain was so light I barely used the umbrella on the way there, and not at all on the way back.

She lay down for a bit, and then unexpectedly (to her) went to sleep and stayed there for some hours.

Sometime around 7:00PM we went downstairs to the restaurant we’ve visited a couple of times before; I still don’t know the name in English, but they remembered us and everything went smoothly. On the way back, Susan had me stop at 7‑Eleven again to pick up some sweet stuff for her (Oreos and a couple of Hershey bars), and then we were installed back in the apartment.

Evening Rosary, evening activities, and both of us ready for bed before midnight.
