Eleventh day in China – July 1 Tuesday

Susan has been speaking increasingly of us moving to China for a longer period of time, to be closer to our grandchildren. I have some small reservations about that prospect (don’t expect it to be really viable long-term, among other things), but I’m not arguing against it. For most of the last three years we’ve done what I wanted, RV living and travel, and I can’t see it hurting much to do what she wants for a change. Maybe a year, maybe two … if things work out, it might be longer, or it might end quickly if more problems arise than anticipated.

Either way, it won’t be immediate. If nothing else, we have to return to the U.S. for the eye operation I put off because this trip was already planned.

Up 7:30AM, Susan was already up. I got us McDonald’s breakfast from downstairs.

I did some online reading, them put in some work on my [community profile] summer_of_giles story. Just past noon, I microwaved the remainder of the dumplings Mei‑li made for us yesterday. A bit later, Susan and I did our daily Rosary.

There had been some light rain when I went to take out trash (recycling station at the curb outside the front door), but the weather report on my laptop indicated a likelihood of rain when it would be time to go to Mei‑li’s parents’ apartment. I texted Mei‑li that we didn’t have an umbrella with us, and it could be a problem getting there in the rain. After a bit of back-and-forth, we agreed that we would just skip our regular daily visit this evening.

Susan and I finished out the evening with our own activities, and I brought back a couple of bacon burgers from McDonald’s for our dinner. She went to bed around 10:30PM, and I got things rounded into shape to be ready for bed by shortly after 11:00.
