Ireland/China 2025, continuing (10)
Jun. 22nd, 2025 05:40 pmDay in the air, arrival in Hong Kong – June 20 Friday
So, we shifted from Thursday the 19th to Friday the 20th before we ever left French airspace.
After that, well … just wait it out. I listened to some music, watched some video. Occasional dozes, but I doubt any one of them lasted more than 20 minutes. Found a short Australian series (Colin From Accounts) that I enjoyed, and a French one (A Common Interest) that was likewise fun, but we landed in Hong Kong (4:52PM Chinese time) before I could much into the third episode.
I made it off the plane without ever seeing Susan; when I waited till the crew wondered why I was still out on the jetway, they told me she’d been sent off by another route. I found her, and she was one of four wheelchair folks from that flight, so they were motored to Hong Kong customs entry while their accompanying family followed with what carry-on luggage we had. At baggage claim, we located Susan’s wheelchair and our checked luggage … and then, since I’d made an advance reservation at the Regal Airport Hotel, located actually inside the airport, Susan’s wheelchair helper pushed her directly there while I followed with our luggage on a trolley.
I can’t say for sure when we got checked in and settled into the room, but I made a family post on Facebook at 6:29PM, noting that we had arrived.
Susan showered first, I afterward. I made a family call on Facebook Messenger, but only Roni answered, and I closed things out within a few minutes to await our son Kevin getting in touch with us. He called perhaps 8:50PM, and we made some basic plans for how to meet up tomorrow morning.
In bed myself by 9:30PM.
