The past year in fanfic

It was shaping to be not much at all. Fortunately, I caught it in time.
BARELY in time.
A month ago exactly, I realized (noticed) that, despite different plans — and projects begun — I’d only done one fic the entire year, my entry for the 2024 Summer of Giles. I’ve had lean years before (and, honestly, 2022 was itself a single-fic year), but it’s not a good habit to accommodate.
So, I got serious. I already had one story I’d been working on for months — I really hadn’t expected it to be so difficult or take so long — to which I now devoted careful focus. I also did a quick drabble set which triggered enough inspiration that I expanded it into a full story in itself. And, while I concentrated on finishing the larger story, the one on which I had stalled for so long, I did several drabbles as they came to me.
I really need to do better, and we’ll see if I can from here on. Altogether, however, not a bad year overall.
Output for 2024:
“the Uncanny Valley”
“So Sad the Song”
“Digital Divide”
“Dead to Rights” (drabble, Buffy/Dexter crossover)
“Needs Must” (drabble, BtVS)
“To the Nines” (drabble, A:tS)
“Curtain Call” (drabble, BtVS)
