The dress is too expensive. Cordelia knows that, but she can’t stop looking.
No, she tells herself. This is nuts. Even if Angel Investigations finally has decent cash flow, it’s not enough for any luxuries. She spent her first months in L.A. filching party snacks to save money; no way does she want a repeat.

The vision headaches are getting worse. And, even without that, any job could be her last.
Decided, she strides into the store. The path she’s on promises a short life and a violent death … but nothing says she can’t look good in the meantime.
