It’s a mystery

I keep hearing that it’s politically impossible for the Democrats to replace Joe Biden with anyone except the current Vice President, cackling Kamala Harris (except maybe for someone like Michelle Obama), because the optics of ignoring a black woman — and current officeholder — are just too prohibitive. I figure the people who say this know more than I do about the intricacies of Democrat infighting and the behavior of Democrat voters, so I won’t say they’re wrong.

I just can’t see it myself, though. And for two different reasons.

First of all, Kamala isn’t black. She has black ancestry, yes, but to know she’s black, you have to be told she’s black, because that ancestry has been diluted so many times it isn’t definitively visible. It’s not-quite-but-almost to the point where she’s no more black than Elizabeth Warren is Native American. (Okay, yeah, Warren was born here, so she’s obviously native to America … but then, ‘official’ racial labels have been nonsensical for a long, long time.)

Second … how many black women — much less black people in general — genuinely identify with Kamala Harris? She’s part Indian (Asian Indian), part black Jamaican, part white, and been privileged all her life, she has less in common with most black people in America than I do. The idea of a semi-black woman being that close to the Presidency may be potent, but the fact of Kamala herself has to be inspiring to precisely nobody.

She’s roughly as dumb as Joe Biden — not AS dumb, but close — but he gets dumber by the moment, while she’s holding pretty steady. With every passing day, then, she’ll look better by comparison. Which is still not saying a hell of a lot.

I don’t actually care, let ’em work it out among themselves. I’m just waiting for the electoral massacre.

We *want* him to be the *demon*crat party candidate; as he's pretty much fully incompetent- we don't want *her* to run; because she's not only more competent, but also at least as completely evil.
In politics; you want your foes led by an incompetent megalomaniac; as that's by far the easiest way to beat them completely.

I don’t really care what they do, all indications are that they’re toast unless they’re gifted with some anti-miracle. My point was that the standard reasoning regarding Kamala just doesn’t hold water as far as I can see. I simply can’t believe that anybody actually cares about her (except to loathe her).

I hope you're right, and it really does look like it; given their attempted use of *murder* they really are forever on the "outs"; oddly enough, it was a man who himself was in his younger adult years perfectly okay with that practice as long as it succeeded that condemned it- that proves not morals on Putin's part but pragmatism; if anything... now he may well have genuienly repented of his involvment in the socialist gang of his younger years as their head enforcer- just imagine the debt *he* had to put to rebuilding himself for a clue- in his younger years he was perfectly fine with the *demon*crats party line.
The fact it is being almost universally condemned *now* is a sign of just how far they have backslid into basically things akin to "Cardassian" legalese in "Star Trek DS9"; those guys really *are* summarized as 'space marxists' to a T.
