Back in the USA

We spent most of the 5th waiting around after having our baggage inspected by military working dogs. Then we spent a long time (following the sun, so it stretched out the day) either in the air or on layover at one airport or another. We arrived at Fort Bragg about 10:20AM (Eastern time) this morning.

I’m back. I’m glad to be back. I am jet-lagged beyond description.

Welcome back! I hope once you get your feet back under you, so to speak, you can get into the language training program you wanted. If that doesn't pan out, what's up next for you?

There are several different possibilities I might pursue; returning veterans have access to quite a few opportunities. My unit’s civilian administrator is getting ready to resign because of ill health, and I’ll be investigating the possibility of taking over that position; I might attempt to get work as an overseas contractor; I might change specialties to get into one that would require (and provide access to) the further language studies I so desire; I might investigate the “Troops to Teachers” program available for qualified personnel. And there are a couple of other indefinites that could assume greater prominence with further investigation.

I don’t know yet how things will turn out. Right now, I have no real reason to worry. Things aren’t looking too bad.
