Yesterday, Susan and I (with my sort-of-sister Janie) went to the International Wolf Center in Ely, MN. Janie put the trip together because, when she asked me what Susan liked, I answered, “Anything with animals.”

We’d been dealing with high heat ever since leaving our home state (to pass through Missouri and Iowa on the way to Minnesota). A couple of days ago, following a severe thunderstorm, temps dropped a lot. We’re currently at something like moderate, with hopes that it will stay that way for the next ten days.

Our first RV space was reasonably level, but it was directly next to a slope, so that the first step up into our rig was at least eight inches higher than it would normally be. This morning, I spoke to the park manager and was able to switch a couple of spaces over, so that now the first step is less of a strain for Susan. (And for me, for whatever that’s worth.)

The several-days’ trip north to Minnesota was so taxing for Susan that she’s only just now (barely) recovered. That’s pretty much decided something I had already been considering: if her CR/V can’t be towed — because it’s an all-wheel-drive — then we need to trade it in for something that can be towed, so she can ride with me while I drive. We’ll need to spend a few months putting away funds so we can do a cash purchase; then there will be the money needed to fix it for towing. Once we get that done, our whole process should go a lot more smoothly.

Since we got here Monday, the last part of the Labor Day holiday, there were very few other people here in the park with us. Then more and more rigs started pulling in, and Susan wondered why that might be … then she said, “Oh, right! It’s the weekend!”

We’ve been living the RV life for nearly a year now, but now we’re back into RV travel. And so it goes.
