Every year I wonder what I can do for Summer of Giles, and every year something comes to me. This one was all personal interplay, no action whatever (unless you count Dru rolling around on the floor) … but that was the story telling itself to me, so that’s where I went. Somehow this bloodless duel, between two characters who met only once in canon, presented itself in a way that demanded to make itself known. (Yeah, I know, that sounds SO self-congratulatory, but you’re a fic writer so you’ll know exactly what I mean.) If it worked out, great. Meanwhile, I have to start getting myself set for next year …
