I did see CM, but under circumstances that left me wondering if I’d missed something (and thinking of watching it again in a more favorable venue). All in all, I was unimpressed; as in, the whole thing left me completely unmoved. I never cared about anything that was going on, or about any of the people. The most enjoyable part of the movie for me was the re-immersion in the Eighties; that was actually fun. The rest … there was only one notable personality in the whole thing (that being Nick Fury), and his portrayal wasn’t as good as I’ve seen Jackson do elsewhere.

(People raved about the cat. I didn’t get it. It was just a cat — which was also an alien carnivore — and a quasi-convenient plot device. Fury’s gooiness over the cat would have been mildly amusing as a one-shot joke; stretching it out just made it look stupid. And losing his eye to the cat was simply ridiculous.)

You may have noticed that I haven’t said anything at all about the title character. That’s because she made no impression on me. None. I didn’t even dislike her, I just kept waiting for some evidence — any — of an actual personality in there. I never saw it.

No, I haven’t seen Endgame. I’m hoping Captain Blank-slate doesn’t mess it up as there is so much potential for her doing.
