In canon, Xander never actually says anything like that (it’s his actions that show that aspect of his character), and I think it’s entirely possible that Giles’s feelings about Ethan are a bit less stark than he claimed here (canon Giles did enjoy some real — albeit rare — camaraderie with Ethan, even if he more frequently enjoyed beating him bloody). Still, it’s pleasing that my lines are deemed effective. Thank you.
