As far as the video from the elevator, that was in line with Carter’s assumption that it was twins tailing her: smart, good thinking, knows the world she lives in, but just doesn’t know about the other world existing alongside it. In-jokes that we get and she couldn’t.

The ice-skating/sno-cone line was funny, I think, because of the underlying snark. It would have been more blatant if he’d said “And then afterwards we had a cookie,” but the basic up-yours was already there.
