I’m not really sure I’d be able to say what was a ‘masculine’ style and what was feminine. (Though, trust me, I’m not offended at being described as masculine in any way.) When I was first reading Mediancat, I presumed he was female; when I learned otherwise, the best I could figure was that 1) most of Buffy fandom was female, so those were the odds, and 2) all the most prominent characters in BtVS were female, so maybe ‘writing about women’ came to be equated in my subconscious with ‘woman writer’.
The stories are still there, yes. I’m having to dig deeper, lately, to find the necessary drive.
