When I said in my comment on chapter 5 that the way she jumped straight in and attacked the demon in the kitchen with whatever came to hand spoke to her character - I'm very glad I didn't expand on what exactly it said about about her character because at that point I hadn't decided exactly what it did say - I knew there was something else going on, but I hadn't put my finger on what. Now of course with this conclusion, I know what that itch between my shoulder blades actually was all about.
This is a story with no happy ending for anyone and all the more gratifying for being that way. Excellently done.
