I had hoped the ‘twist’ wouldn’t be so obvious as to leave a reader saying, “Yeah, yeah, next?” If it wasn’t, good.
And, yes, meeting a new person always opens the possibility that what you learn about them may not be precisely what you were ready to deal with.
