It may not be a common theme for me, but I’m not intrinsically opposed to it, either. Essentially, nothorse’s approach was one that resonated with me: showing how Xander and the people around him reacted to this fundamental change, how it affected the way they saw him and their relationships with him. Being me, I had to get in at least one good fight scene, but otherwise I just followed out the same treatment in Los Angeles instead of Sunnydale.
The Cordelia segment is my favorite, but the evolution of how Xander saw and dealt with Angel seemed logical to me as well. And, after so many “Xander gets powers” stories, having the normal guy choose to stay normal was the kind of variation that appeals to the subversive side of me.
I enjoyed doing this, and I’m pleased that you found it workable.
