What a gray, dismal day. Two days ago, it was 78°F here; now (in my “day off” — more on that in a bit), it’s in the low 40s, with a chill wind that makes things all the less pleasant. I wasn’t going to try and run under those conditions, I don’t have a running suit, just shorts and t-shirt.

Today was supposed to begin another 34-hour restart, but the office asked us to be ready to take a late run. If we get that, we’ll just kick off the restart tomorrow; if not, we’ll have used up most of our “relaxing time” without any actual relaxation. I devoted some of the day to getting myself fitted for new eyeglasses. My last pair was six years ago, and my corrected vision is now at 20/40 … which is functional, but not optimal. My right eye resists correction (it’s 20/40 without glasses), but my left can be brought up to 20/20, an improvement I’ll happily accept. The new lenses will also be reflection-resistant, which will help reduce headlight glare in night driving.

I got nearly a thousand words into my last segment for “Reversible Error” ([livejournal.com profile] sroni still has two to go), and have jotted down ideas for four more stories, plus refinements on three other fics already planned. I have so little spare time — if I’m not asleep, I’m mostly driving — I basically spend much of my day thinking about the things I’ll write if I ever get the chance. With taking another weekend off in April for drill with my Army Reserve unit, it’ll be into May before I finish my mandatory training; perhaps, once I’m out in a truck of my own, I’ll be able to carve out some time here and there to put words to paper.

We’ll see, we’ll see. Right now I just have to get through what’s in front of me.
