I don't mind the jumping off point thing, myself; a favorite remix done by someone on one of my stories did just that, picking up a month or so or so after my story ended, but going back to the same three characters and their reactions to what had happened in my story.
If it ain't broken, don't fix it? At least to your writing remixes. :D
