Well that seriously ripped my heart to pieces. As devastated as Buffy was by the whole Angel/Angelus scenario I can easily see how it would destroy Xander. Buffy had her mission, her sacred duty to keep her going, as well as the support of her friends and family. Xander often found himself on the edges of the group, lacking the sort of parental support Buffy had or the fatherly love of Giles he'd face knowing he'd been instrumental in bringing a monster into the world practically on his own. Not to mention lacking the Slayer's ability to end the reign of terror himself.
You turned my favorite scene in Killed by Death into a knife twist of pathos. Bravo! Giles reminding Buffy that Angel tortured him has always lived in my mind as signifying Buffy's worst betrayal, the person she had injured the most by her deception. Now there is one she betrayed even more. And the whole thing was so subtly done I was nearly to the end before I twigged to what was happening. Although the subtle changes in the canon dialogue were a nice clue.
Oh, and the switch to Cordelia doing the impersonating was quite wonderful.
