The moment she saw the medallion, she knew. What it was. What it meant. How to collect and arrange the minor magicks available to her and, when the flare came, siphon some of those energies for herself.

A beginning.

Her death, fighting beside Andrew: illusion. Dead, she’s off the books, nobody looking for her …

… or on guard.

Vengeance for Halfrek? against the source of vengeance? Impossible, too much power there. But with time, care, planning …

Never go for the kill, he’d said, when you can go for the pain.

In time, she’d show him it was possible to do both.

Thank you. I had originally intended to try and work out an actual story from this (someday), but when the Snowflake Challenge called for a fanwork, it was something I could do quickly.

No idea where it might go, but if anyone else felt like writing it, I’d definitely be interested in reading it.

She never struck me as someone much oriented toward (or having much talent for) long-term planning. She seems to be thinking in those terms now, though, so Demon Pimp Daddy may be looking at some serious problems a few years down the road.

Anya failed at her return to demonhood because she couldn’t let go (the second time) of her human memory of conscience. D’Hoffryn punished her for it by killing her oldest friend in front of her. Think she’s just going to forget about something like that?

D’Hoffryn might be the appointed lord of vengeance, but he didn’t invent it, and I believe he’ll have it demonstrated to him — forcefully — that he doesn’t have a monopoly on the process.

Sneaky? Sneaky would be spending decades, or centuries, in accumulating the power and deception necessary to take out a major power.

We haven’t seen sneaky yet.
