It touches on something I did in the opening of “All Ye Who Enter”, wherein we got the impression that Xander’s physical awareness of Joyce (delicately shown in his dream-segment of the “Restless” episode) might not have been entirely one-sided. I had occasional fun with that, even if I never tried to carry it further in ‘canonical’ stories.
