No, but if he believes in evolution, climate change and that taxes should at any time ever be increased then he'll never get the nomination.
Sorry to say this but from my point of view, most of the republicans I see on tv or online are either inveterate liars or what I'd consider far right christianist fundamentalists.
Yes, you are for he is an Uncle Tom (not that they even know that their interpretation is totally wrong) and he's bought and paid for by the White Elite. Remember what they want to do to Justice Thomas and his wife? Cut off his toes, put him back in the cotton fields, hang him etc.? That's not racist at all. He and others like him are racist for not towing the line of the Democrats, sorry to say.
In another forum, I've stated that the US is heading for a second Civil War, probably in the next four years, probably sooner, if the current occupant of the WH, loses the next elections. We've seen small trials in Wisconsin. We've seen it happening with all the SEIU/AFL-CIO sponsored protests. We see it with the massive resurgence of the Communists/Socialists (all sporting the hippie look but carrying around the latest Macbooks) during each of these events. We see it in the college classrooms where professors explain how to obliquely threaten businesses and even go so far as to explain the best ways to sabotage machinery. We see it in the NLRB's attempts to force Boeing not to open up a plant in South Carolina, a Right-To-Work state. I can go on and on about every little thing the current administration and its cronies are doing to get more and more power into their hands but you, as someone living there, have a much closer view.
You or anybody else think things will get better? No, they won't. Not when California is sitting with a widening gap in its finances, for which they'll be coming to the Federal Government to help out because every business is leaving as fast as they can (204 in 2010 alone, up from less than half that in 2009). Don't forget New York, Illinois and several other states with the same problems.
Here's an article by "Three-time Grammy Award-winning artist, writer, actress, philanthropist, mother and all-around Renaissance woman, Jill Scott". Read it. Especially the first paragraph by the editor, in which they clearly state that Miss Scott gets to the root of the matter they all feel strongly about. IMHO, the article is racist and I'm not alone, almost every reply to it, calls both Jill Scott and Essence magazine on it. Guess they forgot that in todays world, if you publish something online, you can bet that a lot more people then your own demographic will view it and comment on it. But she's black, so it isn't racist. Now if it was Miley Cyrus who wrote this article, she'd be branded a racist redneck member of the KKK, calling for the return of lynchings.
So, yes, Aadler, you're still a racist. As am I. According to these people, at least. Of course, they don't care that my family's bloodline stretches at least three continents (Asia, Europe, South America).
Which is still better then the idiots on the left.
They are the ones who want to ban children's games because they're 'dangerous and can cause injury'. They're the ones who drag children out of school to be used as props for their demands, all the while chanting 'it's for the children', while the US is pouring more money into the school system than any other country, but getting some of the worst results.
Or forbid the showing of the American flag because it can offend foreign children but allow foreign flags to be proudly displayed.
As for taxes, maybe you should check out California. Last year, 2010? 204 Businesses left the state. The previous year it was not even half that. Here's a link that shows the businesses that have so far left or are planning to leave this year.
http://thebusinessrelocationcoach.blogspot.com/
The gentleman running it, has been doing this a while. If you check the list, you'll see that the multi-billion dollar defense contractor Raytheon, is relocating parts of its space division. Other defense companies have already done so. Movies and TV shows are hardly made in the state.
So with the tax payers leaving the state due to ever rising taxes and regulations strangling their businesses, I guess higher taxes are in order right? Don't worry, though, most of these businesses are relocating to right-to-work states and states with lower tax regimes and streamlined business setup systems, like Texas.
Besides, it's the Tea Party that's the real power nowadays, not the GOP. Most of the new seats in Congress are held by people who were put there by the Tea Party and they're growing in numbers. Whether the GOP choses Gingrich or one of the other old-school guys, the TP is going to go for their own choice, be it Cain or any of the other TP favorites.
This covers a lot of area that I consider to be of particular moment. Just as ‘Republican’ is by no means synonymous with ‘conservative’ (my biggest problem with Republicans is that they so often are NOT conservative), so is ‘the left’ distinct from — if widely intersecting with — ‘Democrats’.
Modern liberalism — or progressivism, since the practitioners thereof not only used ‘liberal’ to describe decidely illiberal things, but eventually by their behavior turned the word into an insult — is simply a particular brand of elitism. The people who know better than us (and they’ll be the first to tell us that they know better) are determined to make all our decisions for us, of course for our own good. And any of us who disagree with them can only be doing so out of hate for all the designated victims they insist they’re trying to help.
Newsflash: maybe we’re not evil or ignorant, maybe we just honestly disagree. And, who knows, maybe we aren’t the ones who are wrong.
I guess sometimes the world just isnt as simple as we would like it to be. Regardless of belief system, anybody who believes that one particular approach is the answer to everything, is in for a disappointment. Life, and political systems, and societies in general, are a never-ending balancing act.
Liberalism has had its long day (truly kicking off with Woodrow Wilson) and, as everywhere else its been tried, has failed to deliver on all its promises, and generally made more things worse than better. As it fades, though, that doesnt mean the problem is solved; there will be new problems, and a fresh new crop of people who arent familiar with the lessons taught by history will push to try the same silly crap all over again, and smear anyone who questions the effectiveness of such an approach.
Its like taking out the garbage; necessary, but by no means a permanent solution.
maybe you should read my post again. I'm tired of the virulent screams of RACISM!!!!!! every time somebody asks a question that throws a shadow on the current administration's activities.
"Why is the economy still not doing well?" "RACISM!!!!"
"Economic and foreign policy seem to be handled as if in the hands of a drunk sailor. Our allies have lost confidence in us and our enemies laugh at us." "RACISM!!!"
"Congress persons have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar, using public funds for their own gain." "RACISM!!!"
I'm sick and tired of people injecting the race-card into things like that, like so many of the democrats and their followers do. You wonder if you voting for Herman Cain will still brand you a racist? In the eyes of these people, yes, it most certainly will. After all, in the eyes of the liberal bloc, he and others like Justice Thomas and Rep. Allan West are Uncle Tom's, traitors to their race.
THAT's what my long-winded post is about. Is it oversimplistic stereotyping? Yes. But it is true nonetheless.
Assuming you're a Caucasian or Anglo-Saxon or whatever name they give for it and you're not a member of the democrat party or of one of the myriad liberal groups, anything you say will be considered racist. If however, you're a Caucasian/Anglo-Saxon or African American who toes the party line, anything you'll say will be automatically not racist, even if it is the most vile, putrid poison spewing forth. It is why I linked that article of Miss Scott. As an example of the double standard that exists. Liberals have come out of the woodwork to defend her, explaining exactly what she means to us dumb, racist rednecks.
My response to your post was an attempt to reply in the same vein, with a sarcastic but hopefully, friendly tone. Guess I screwed that up.
The problem with that is that those in power, invariably don't want to lose that power. They find ways to enlarge the scope of that power through legislation and other means.
Witness the massive numbers they've put into the streets the last few years. The power grabs they've been doing lately like the recent NLRB actions or the 'Kinetic Military Action' which, if it had been a previous president, would have caused massive cries of impeachment etc. Now, the same people who would have screamed that from the top of the highest buildings, are defending it.
Part of it is the fact that unlike the presidential post, congressional seats can be life-time positions if you play your cards right, pay off your special interest groups etc.
I have to say, as a foreigner, who lives in Europe, I was shocked to find out that you have states where, if you want to work, you need to be a member of a union or you'll never get a job (found this out about a decade ago). Where I live, things like that are not the norm. Sure, we have unions, I'm a member of one, but unlike in those states in the US, the unions here will bargain for everyone in the company, not only their members. My Desk has 10 people, three of which are union members, two of them belonging to a competing union (there are three major unions with subdivisions for different sectors). The subdivisions of all three unions will work together to negotiate with the companies in that sector to get a contract that will benefit all workers, not just the union people.
They're the power behind the throne and they will fight tooth and nail not to lose that power, even if it means escalating their actions. Hence, my prediction of a new civil war. After all, who recently called for a new civility but is the one constantly breaking it by their very words?
